This is a bit of an experimental piece for me with only dialogue; no tags, no actions, minimal setting. The speaker alternates each line, including silences. Dress the scene however you’d imagine.

“Hey.”

“Yeah?”

“How long have we known each other?”

“Well, it was . . . almost ten years?”

“I thought so.”

“Why do you ask?”

“No reason.”

“. . .”

“You ever think about . . . us?”

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“What do you mean?”

“About what?”

“About ‘us’?”

“Never mind.”

“. . .”

“. . .”

“You mean like . . . dating?”

“Maybe.”

“Sometimes.”

“Sometimes?”

“Yeah.”

“. . .”

“. . .”

“You never told me.”

“Just passing thoughts.”

“Oh . . .”

“Not that I don’t like you . . .”

“Yeah?”

“I just didn’t think you . . .”

“. . .”

“Do you . . . ?”

“Yeah.”

“Oh.”

“Okay.”
