Confluence

You know, I had given up;
Given up thinking I’d see you again.
Thinking that moment we’d shared in the calm,
Was anything but prattle between strangers.

But here you are, smiling at me in the crowd.
Would that I could share a moment with you again,
But life’s current sweeps you away;
Into the undergrowth and out of sight.

But I’ll find strength in your smile,
And should fortune or will bring us together again,
I will flood my banks,
And share my current with you.
