This must be the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen.
The night is over,
The work is done.
Usually the sun is waiting for me,
Outside the entrance to my cave,
Hanging just above the horizon,
And blaring into my eyes.
Not with anger or conceit,
But to remind me where I’m going.
The sun never does anything half measure.
Today is different.
Today all my efforts have come to bear,
Today I’ve beaten him to the morning.
When he peaks over the hilltops,
He’ll see me here in my diligence,
And maybe,
He’ll shine even brighter for it.
