Lord, keep me focused.
I’ve been so distracted,
With all the newness of this life.
New things, new feelings, new opportunities.
When I pray, I ask You for guidance,
I ask You for success.
I pray selfishly that my life on earth,
May be full of happiness and contentment.
Lord, forgive me this folly,
And remind me to pray for the saints.
Remind me to lift up others to Your throne,
So that I may also be lifted up.
Remind me to pray for faith,
So that my relationship with You,
Will be strengthened beyond any other.
Even if I wanted for no material thing,
Even if my name carried worldwide renown,
If I didn’t have love, I would have nothing.¹
Keep me focused on You, Lord,
And deepen my love,
At once for you, then for the saints,
Then for the lost and dying.
Not a thing I have, You have not given.
Not a feeling I feel, You do not understand.
Not an opportunity I find, You have not sent.
So why should I worry?
