No More

You never forgot God.
You forgot me,
But you never forgot God.
You never forgot His promise.
If the Lord removed the scales from my eyes,
And let me bear witness to the spiritual,
Would I have seen an angel beside your bed?
A more constant companion than we could provide,
Eagerly whispering to you the secrets of heaven.
In your bed, with arms outstretched,
Grasping feebly at the air,
Were you reaching for the pearly gates?
Could you feel the precious stone,
Cool to the touch beneath your palm?
And when your eyes ceased to see us,
Were they filled with the glory of eternity?
Did the Lord, Jesus, Himself hold your attention?
The faith that once dwelt in you, gone,
Replaced entirely by sight.
The home you sought,
You have finally found;
No more to roam,
No more to dream.
