Happy New Year, Everyone!

Yes, the fondest of greetings from me and mine as another January first ticks over. So, make any resolutions? I didn’t, the day honestly kind of sneaked up on me. I’ve never been the type to take new years particularly seriously. I’m pretty sure I slept through the last four or five of them and resolved to make no resolutions. I guess for all those years I never really had anything to look back on or look forward to so, when such a time of reflection and contemplation arrived, I just ignored it.

This year, I’m happy to say that things are different. I accomplished some notable things last year as far as I’m concerned. I started this blog! Granted, it’s still rather minuscule but it’s not like I have a hook or anything. This isn’t a travel blog or a scooter blog or a rugby blog I mean it says it all in the subtitle, “writings and ramblings.” Maybe I should just start posting a bunch of memes . . .

I became more fit! I was able to drop another thirty pounds last year and I’ve begun putting on muscle. It’s got to be said, actually seeing something when I flex is pretty exciting. I was at my heaviest when I graduated high school over ten years ago and I’ve lost about a hundred pounds since. Something I want everyone to know concerning weight loss and fitness is that you can really feel the difference in the way your body moves. I know that can sometimes be a bit of a catch phrase for some less than reputable infomercials but it really is true. You get to a point where you realize you’re lifting more and going longer without losing your breath, even in your everyday routine, and it makes you want to push yourself farther.

I got a full-time job and the money is fantastic . . . at least for me. According to this or that statistic I’m probably still destitute, just considerably less so. I have to say, this job is unlike any other I’ve had which, admittedly, isn’t a whole lot. I’m there when the store is closed and answer to no one while I work. My managers have certain expectations when they come in in the morning and I’m free to fulfill those in whatever way is comfortable to me. I honestly feel more like a contractor than an employee and it’s a fascinating point of view.

So what’s next? That’s the big question every new year. What do I want to undertake? What do I want to accomplish? There’s a clever little play on words I’ve seen some people use: 2020 Vision. So what’s your vision for this year? Want to learn a language or take a course on vehicle repair or start work on your time machine? Take some time during this first week of a brand new year and think on it. I’ll spare you my own musings for now but suffice it to say I’d like to become more independent in some ways but less independent in others.

As always,
God Bless.
