Nightingale

When the nightingale returns,
Will he hear only sad songs again?
Sing! Sing out!
Let your voices fill the air!
With strength let the sound cut the wind.
With diligence let the clouds flee.
When the nightingale returns,
From a great distance he will hear you.
Your voice will bear up his wings,
He will not become weary in flight.
With greater speed he will come to you,
Eager to listen to your song.
When the nightingale returns,
He will be captivated by your singing,
No other song he’s heard will compare.
He’ll join in the chorus,
He’ll dance through the sky.
Together you’ll raise the sound of cheer.
When the nightingale returns,
And the dark night draws near,
He’ll alight in your rafters,
Singing to you a song of rest.
When you are weary you’ll still hear the sound,
Of his tender melody drifting down,
When the nightingale returns.
